Guest Book
What a fun weekend this Reunion Committee and all the worker bees are planning! I'll be blue just thinking about you all. We have a family wedding -you know, one of those "command attendance" affairs, and will be unable to attend the great year of '64 reunion. (however, being married to a '65er, will be attending the 2015 event at Deerwood) have a great time all! BSQMDEXOQ. to Bruce Commander Judi
Classmates, the heading above says this space is reserved for the Guest Book, but I'm going to use it as a Message Board. And you'll be glad I did because when you've finished reading this, you'll be as proud as I am to claim Pam Jackson Winton as a friend and fellow classmate. Last month I was asked to submit an article to a Jacksonville publication about our upcoming reunion. The editor asked me to highlight a few of the careers of our outstanding graduates, one of whom I had selected to be Pam. When the editor was finished condensing my submission, all the juice about Pam had disappeared. Pam's life work is so extraordinary that I'm going to reproduce it here below, as taken directly from Pam's bio from the UNC website. Pamela Jackson Winton Education: • PhD, Special Education, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill • MA, Special Education, Peabody College, Vanderbilt University • BA, Psychology, Hollins College "Pamela J. Winton, PhD, is a Senior Scientist and the Director of Outreach at the Frank Porter Graham Child Development Institute. Winton has been involved in research, outreach, professional development, and scholarly publishing related to early childhood for the last three decades. She taught courses on families, teaming, and professional development for many years and is a research professor in the School of Education at UNC-CH. Winton is currently the director and PI of two national centers: the National Professional Development Center on Inclusion (NPDCI), whose purpose is to work with states to create a cross-agency system of high quality professional development (PD) for early childhood personnel who work with young children with disabilities in inclusive settings; and CONNECT: The Center to Mobilize Early Childhood Knowledge, bringing an evidence-based practice approach to professional development in key early childhood content. Winton has published numerous books, articles, chapters, and curricula on topics related to professional development, knowledge utilization, systems change, collaboration among professionals and families, and inclusion. She has served on national, state, and local advisory boards, review panels, and editorial boards including serving as Associate Editor of Journal of Early Intervention." Pam, we are so proud of you, of your work, your focused dedication, of the difference you've made inside your field, within families and children across the globe. You have always stayed quietly below the attention-seeking radar, so I hope my shining this bright light on you and your career won't offend. Here's to you, Pam Jackson Winton!
Thank you, Mike Huddleston, for setting-up this web site...and thank you Reunion Planning Committee for all you are doing to make our 50th Reunion event a wonderful experience.
For a very old and exceedingly cranky volunteer who can draw a mustache on my picture, you done good!! lol :) I really do like it and am impressed! Sandra
This reunion is going to happen! Thanks to all who very quickly quit talking about it and are getting it done!
To Paul Michael Huddleston and his behind scenes web volunteers: thank you all for putting together a very jazzy website for us!
A great big THANK YOU to everyone who finally put this together. I'm really looking forward to seeing everyone again and hopefully catching up with many.
The web-site is beautiful. The "In Memory" brought tears to my eyes. Thank you for all that you and the others are doing to put this reunion together.
Thanks to the fantastic planning committee and Mike for all the work to plan a reunion. It looks like I will be able to come and so looking forward to it. pam
Comments: I regret that I will be unable to attend our class reunion! I know that everyone will have so much fun renewing friendships and being together! Sending very special thank you to all who are serving on the Reunion Committee for all their many hours of hard work in planning such a wonderful reunion! I will miss being with you all that weekend, but will be thinking of you! Have such wonderful memories of my going to school at Fishweir Elementary, Lakeshore Jr. High, and then Robert E. Lee. Those were good years! Would love to see photos from our reunion and hearing about that weekend. I would really like to contribute to the reunion expenses, so please do not hesitate to let me know. Sandy
What a great weekend ahead for everyone! I had hoped to be able to come but family circumstances are preventing me from leaving. I attended my mother's 50th Lee reunion but couldn't imagine ever having one of my own! Where have the years gone? I hope there will be photos and videos from all the events... with names incuded just in case some classmates have changed a bit! Hope everyone has a wonderful time!!!
George & I recently retired from our law practice and moved to Gainesville, GA. We are enjoying showing Cavalier King Charles Spaniels at AKC and specialty dog shows in our retirement years. Give me a call when you are up my way; we wont be able to attend the reunion but I look forward to hearing about it from Sandra Dorminy Williamson. Best, Beverly
Great seeing everyone at the Lee game. Looks like the only other event I will attend will be the Sun Brunch. Go Generals!
Hello Classmates. Looks like the reunion turned out great. I wish I could have come, but due to health issues it wasn't possible. Since I graduated in 1964, I got married in 1965. My former husband was in the navy and when he was discharged we moved to Texas where i have lived in a little city, McAllen and San Antonio until 1988. I have one son who is 47 years old who was in army and served a year in Iraq. He gave me 6 grandchildren 3 boys and 3 girls. One of the grandson also did a deployment in Iraq. I now have 5 great grandchildren, 2 girls, 3 boys and 2 on the way. oo I worked several jobs since 1964. I worked for USAA Insurance Company as Service Representative for 29 years and reitred in 2006. I lived in Sacramento California for 18 of those years. Moved back to Texas when I retired in 2006. Now live in a little town called Spring Branch, Texas.
