Officer Florence, Officer Fred Lucy, and Officer Charles Thompson were killed when the plane they were flying in crashed. The three were on a trip to serve an out-of-town warrant.

Ronald D. Florence, 32, of 6118 Hillview Ct., was fatally injured Monday in a plane crash. He was a native of Jacksonville and a member of the Blanding Blvd. Baptist Church, the Fraternal Order of Police, and was a Navy Veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Mary C. Florence; his mother, Mrs. Iva Ezell Florence; 2 children, Melinda L. and Joe I. Florence; and sisters, Mrs. Glynda Myers, of Tustin, Calif., and Mrs. Roselyn Powell, and Mrs. Rae Hagerman, both of Jacksonville, Ore.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Trinity Baptist Church, 800 Hammond Blvd. with Dr. Bob Gray officiating. Interment in Riverside Memorial Park.
