Isham Dewey Griffis Jr., 68, passed away Thursday, January 8, 2015 in Lawtey, FL. He was born December 4, 1946 to Isham Griffis Sr. and Jacqueline Griffis (Livingston), in Columbia, SC. Dewey LOVED to fish and worked hard for what he had. Dewey was well known in the Jacksonville/Mayport community as an outstanding offshore fisherman. Anyone that cleared the Jetty Rocks in the My Girl knew they were going to have a great day fishing. After Honorable Discharge from the US Navy in 1967, he worked as a glazier in Jacksonville for many well-known glass shops until opening his own glass business in 1984. He took pride in being self-employed, always trying to provide quality for his customers. He is preceded in death by his wife of 28 years Lynda Helen Griffis. He is survived by two sons, Daniel Griffis, Michael (Mackenzie) Griffis, one brother Edward Walter Griffis, one sister Barbara Griffis Hayden and three grandchildren, Adalyn, Avery and Samuel. Arrangements under the care of Hardage-Giddens Town & Country Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32205. A visitation will be held in the chapel on Wednesday, January 14, 2015 from 6-8pm. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 15, 2015 at 10am in the chapel with interment to follow at Riverside Memorial Park.
