Fred J. Salem, 61, went to be with our precious Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on January 5, 2008. Fred was born October 25, 1946 in Jerusalem, Palestine. He was a loving Husband, Father, Brother, Uncle, and Friend. After graduating from the University of Florida, Fred worked for Martin-Marietta designing missile control systems. He went on to work for JEA as an Electrical Engineer. Fred was an active member of several professional engineering groups including, the Illuminating Engineers Society (IES), the Institute of Electrical & Electronic Engineers, and the Professional Engineers Society. He was also an Assistant Scout Master for Troop 101 for the Boy Scouts of America, and a lifelong member of the Ramallah American Club. He was also an active member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church. He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Badia Salem. He will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 28 years, Shadia Salem; daughter, Nadine; sons, Joseph, and Jason; brothers, Adil (Elaine), John (Sandy), Jim (Jan) Salem; sister, Lila Angelou; and many loving nieces, nephews, and friends. The family will receive family & friends Tuesday, January 8, 2008, 5-6:30 PM at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 11757 Old Saint Augustine Rd. Jacksonville, FL 32258 with a Vigil service at 6:30 PM. Funeral services will be Wednesday, January 9, 2008, 10:30 AM at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with interment to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
