Officer Florence, Officer Fred Lucy, and Officer Charles Thompson were killed when the plane they were flying in crashed. The three were on a trip to serve an out-of-town warrant.

Rodney L. Gabel, 70, passed away on July 26, 2016 in Gainesville, FL. He was born on August 6, 1945 in Lansing, MI to the late Harold and Dorothy Gabel.

Rodney received his Doctor of Optometry degree and practiced in Jacksonville for over 40 years. He belonged to the Masons and Shriners and cherished time with his family, enjoyed boating, traveling, motor cycles and cars.
